Recent advancements in biomedical technologies are generating vast amounts of multimodal data, paving the way for a deeper, systems-level understanding of human health. We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Researcher or Research Scientist to join the Yurkovich Lab. Our research applies network science and principles of graph theory to tackle challenging problems in biomedicine.
In this role, you will be instrumental in using knowledge graphs to collate, organize, and compute on multimodal data. Your work will directly support ongoing and newly developing projects aimed at solving complex problems in metabolic engineering, phenomic dynamics, antimicrobial resistance, and longevity. You will need a blend of theoretical computational knowledge and practical application, focusing on developing innovative AI and network-based solutions. You will play a key role in developing robust software tools and pipelines, extracting insights from real-world biological studies, and leading the publication of high-impact scientific articles.

Responsibilities
- Design, build, and implement advanced knowledge graphs and network models to integrate and analyze complex, multimodal biological data.
- Apply principles of network science and graph theory to understand system behavior, identify critical biological pathways, and uncover novel therapeutic targets.
- Leverage machine learning, AI, and large language models to extract actionable insights from large-scale biomedical datasets.
- Collaborate closely with biologists and domain experts to translate complex biological questions into quantitative network and mathematical models.
- Design, develop, and test software applications and data pipelines using object-oriented programming languages and software engineering best practices.
- Contribute to the development of novel open-source algorithms and computational tools for data analysis and modeling.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in artificial intelligence, graph theory, computational modeling, and systems biology.
- PhD in Computer Science, Bioengineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related computational field
- Strong foundation and demonstrated expertise in network science, graph theory, and/or artificial intelligence
- Experience building, querying, or analyzing knowledge graphs and complex networks
- Proficiency in machine learning and AI techniques
- Strong programming skills in Python
- Experience in software engineering
- Familiarity with biological data, biomedicine, and/or longevity research is strongly preferred
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
- Strong communication, writing, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both independently and as a highly collaborative part of a team
- $75,000 to $125,000 depending on skills and experience.
