POSITION SUMMARY
The Buck Institute for Research on Aging is a world-renowned, independent research institute located in Novato, California, dedicated to extending the healthy lifespan of individuals. Our mission is to increase the healthspan, the healthy years of life, of every individual by enhancing their ability to prevent and withstand the multiple chronic conditions that accompany aging.

As a Senior Research Scientist in the Furman Lab at the Buck Institute, you will be responsible for providing scientific and technical expertise in the wet lab. The Furman lab at the Buck Institute for Research on Aging has a position open for an interdisciplinary project in aging models and microbiome. The successful candidate, with minimum supervision, should be able to conceive, design, and execute experiments, cultivate models of cell lines, organoids, and anaerobic microbiome systems, utilize advanced accelerated aging techniques of those models, conduct gene expression experiments and basic analysis and visualization of generated data. This is a 100% wet bench role and the successful candidate must work onsite full-time. You will work closely with bioinformatics scientists to help design experiments, analyze, interpret, and generate figures for data, and contribute to writing scientific literature.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform and provide expertise in wet lab experiments
  • Provide basic data analysis and visualization of data generated
  • Write scientific literature
  • Present findings to the scientific community
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum Masters in Biological Sciences or a related field
  • Previous experience in basic coding and visualization of data
  • At least 2 years of post-graduate experience in a related field
  • Team player with a collaborative spirit
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects
  • Prior experience writing, publishing, and presenting scientific literature

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong background in immunology

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
  • $80,000/yr salary, full time position
