Postdocs - NOVATO, CA - Full Time

POSITION SUMMARY

The Webb Lab at the Buck Institute is recruiting a Postdoctoral Scientist to investigate the molecular mechanisms of brain aging and neurodegeneration. The successful candidate will have experience in molecular biology and/or neuroscience. A strong bioinformatics or data science background is desirable but not required. Candidates should have a track record of contribution to peer-reviewed publications, innovative problem-solving skills, and the ability to work well with a team.

The Webb Lab investigates the molecular mechanisms of brain aging and neurodegeneration, with a focus on transcriptional and epigenetic mechanisms. We use a combination of cell-based models, in vivo mouse models, and genomics to interrogate age-related changes and identify new targets to treat age-related cognitive decline and neurodegeneration. The Webb Lab is an inclusive environment, and we welcome individuals from all backgrounds and identities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and perform experiments to interrogate the mechanisms of neuronal aging and cognitive decline.
  • Use mouse models and/or cell-based systems to measure molecular features of aging and manipulate candidate targets.
  • Analyze data and prepare manuscripts in collaboration with the PI.
  • Participate in Institute events including symposia, seminars, and workshops.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • PhD in Molecular Biology, Neuroscience, or a related field

Experience

  • Cell culture and/or in vivo mouse experience
  • Basic molecular biology

ABOUT US

Our success will ultimately change healthcare. At the Buck, we aim to end the threat of age-related diseases for this and future generations by bringing together the most capable and passionate scientists from a broad range of disciplines to identify and impede how we age. We are an independent, non-profit institution located in Marin County, CA, with the goal of increasing human healthspan, or the healthy years of life. Globally recognized as the pioneer and leader in efforts to target aging—the number one risk factor for diseases including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, cancer, macular degeneration, heart disease, and diabetes—the Buck seeks to help people live better longer.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  •  The starting salary for a new postdoc at the Buck is $71,845 in 2025, with a range up to $82,000 commensurate with postdoc level & experience.
  • Exciting, dynamic work environment at the forefront of science using state-of-the-art techniques.
  • Generous benefits package including health insurance, paid parental leave, generous PTO, and 401(k) with 5% employer match, student loan repayment, and profit sharing.
